We’ve seen it with other platforms, like Twitter and Instagram, so what does it mean now that Facebook is offering the same capability? As social marketers, Facebook continues to roll out features that not only make our strategies stronger but also solidify the importance of developing and maintaining a holistic digital approach that not only compliments but also empowers social marketing efforts. Don’t be fooled into thinking this feature is only valuable for certain sites and industries. Interesting social content worth sharing is not just news-related and can most certainly be specific to your brand. Instead of taking a screenshot of a post or simply sharing it on his/her profile, your audience members can now share your Facebook content within their sites and blogs. Without stating the obvious (ahem, more reach and exposure) the beauty of this lies in the ability to stay connected to social conversation without actually having to be plugged into the Facebook platform 24/7. Up until now, Facebook has done everything in its power to keep users onsite so this is pretty nifty.
As a best practice, we are sure to occasionally provide audience members with a call to action within social messaging; “share this with your friends” is a common one. Now us content writers have even more ammo since we can encourage sharing on and off the Facebook platform.
Bottom Line: Content is still king. The value of strong social content is more important than ever because you never know where it will be shared or who’s eyes it will land on.
Want to embed a post? It’s so easy a caveman can do it… or something like that. Just click on the upper right hand side of the Facebook post and select “Embed Post” in the dropdown menu. Copy the code provided by Facebook and paste it one your website or blog. Voilà!
