It’s inevitable to be asked “How do you feel about Google+?” by someone nearly every day when you’re a social marketer.
So here’s what I tell them:
On the record? Google+ is great for SEO and poses a big opportunity to get lots of information about your business crawled by Google. It can enable you to rank higher when your content is shared and your Google Authorship is in place, too.
Off the record? It’s nerdy (but then again, so are we). Like they arrived at a super cool house party at 6pm when it didn’t start until 9. They’re there, in the mix, but they brought a gift for your mom. And they’re wearing headgear.
But is the aforementioned (on the record stuff) true? Absolutely. And do we like it for those purposes? Of course. Google+ is doing your homework while Instagram is goofing off in the bathroom. But they’re both a part of our social lives and are opportunities to present different sides of your brand message. So, in short, we’re on board.
