Matchstick Social’s HR and Client Success Manager, Gwyneth Navey, has been named a 2026 SC Women in Business honoree by Charleston Business Magazine. The Women to Watch recognition celebrates women across South Carolina whose careers, influence, and impact are still building momentum. That description fits Gwyn as well as anyone we know.
HR doesn’t always get the credit it deserves in small business.
A lot of agencies and small businesses treat HR as an afterthought. Someone handles the paperwork, maybe a handbook gets written, and that’s about it. For a long time, that was the norm in our industry, too.
Matchstick Social took a different path, and Gwyn is a big reason why.
She joined Matchstick Social as our Operations Manager and quickly saw an opportunity to bring even more value to the team. Last February, she earned her SHRM certification, and her role has since grown to touch nearly every part of how we operate, from how we hire and onboard, to how we support our team and show up for our clients. That combination of internal culture work and external client success isn’t an obvious pairing, but for us it makes complete sense. A team that feels supported does better work, and better work is what our clients come to us for.
Rachel Davis, Co-Founder and Partner at Matchstick Social, put it this way: “A lot of our colleagues in marketing and small business don’t invest in HR the way they should, and I can’t tell you how invaluable Gwyn has been to Matchstick Social. What’s really special about her, though, is that she’s not just building systems for where we are today. She thinks about where we’re going, challenges us to grow past the hustle-and-grind mindset, and inspires our whole team to show up differently. She’s genuinely shaping the future of this business, and I think the best is still ahead of her.”
That shift doesn’t happen overnight. It takes someone willing to push back, ask harder questions, and build systems that actually hold up as a team grows. Gwyn does all of that.
What this recognition reflects.
The Women to Watch designation isn’t something you apply for on a whim. It reflects a trajectory, a body of work that points somewhere, and a reputation among peers who see what you bring to the table every day.
For Matchstick Social, it’s also a reflection of the kind of team we’re intentionally building. We’ve always believed that great client work starts with great internal culture. Gwyn has been central to building that culture at Matchstick, and watching her get recognized for it is something we don’t take lightly.
We’re proud of this team.
